Living Your God Given Purpose
Tom Wolf

Recently in Sunday School, we started class by reading John 17. When reading this chapter of scripture, it is as if you're getting a first-hand glimpse into the heart of Jesus. What a privilege to listen in on what Jesus prayed as he petitioned His Father on behalf of (1) Himself, (2) His Disciples, and (3) All Believers. How sweet of God to let us see the heart of Jesus through his prayer!

I decided that I would meditate on John 17, and I haven't gotten past verses 1-5. I am struck by how much there is to take in from these few verses, but wanted to share one thought in particular.

In the beginning Jesus says, "Glorify me that I may glorify you". Later it says Jesus brought God glory on earth by "completing the work he gave him to do". Let that sink in for a moment.

When it comes to glorifying God here on earth--He shows us exactly how we can live our life or God given purpose. It is done by completing the work he has for us to do. It's not about living our own agendas and it's not about our own success or power. It's not about staying safe and it's not about hunkering down in our own little comfort zones. And, it's not about hanging back and waiting until God shows up with your own personal lightening bolt or a burning bush.

It's about FINDING, KNOWING and LIVING your God given PURPOSE! It's up to you to Ask, Seek and Knock. In Matthew 7: 7 God says, "Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened."

Do you want to glorify God here on earth? Then perhaps it is time to find out what He his plans are for your life? Maybe it is time to look back at your past and find the life experiences that have planted deep passion--or given you an ability--to relate to others like no one else can?

Here is my challenge: You were planned for a purpose that only you can fulfill. And it is not only about living the "purpose-filled" abundant life that God desires for you. It is about glorifying God . . . your creator . . . your Lord!

Do you know your God given purpose? Do you want to glorify God with your life? Pray . . . ask God what He would have you do. If you're ready, that's what we are all about at Identity and Destiny.

In our 7 Steps Program we will show you how to seek the Lord and finally answer the questions, Who Am I and why am I Here?

The end goal: To be able to say, "I brought God glory on earth by completing the work He gave me to do!"
